MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) - A family of seven flipped their ATV in Maury County Tuesday night. There were multiple injuries and three people were transported to the hospital. 

According to Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver of the ATV ran off the side of the road, overcorrected and rolled the ATV onto the golf course.   

It happened just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night on Campbellsville Pike in Maury County.  

The family of seven was reportedly riding an ATV sometimes referred to as a side by side.  

Investigators said the driver's tires began to exit the right side of the road, that's when he over-corrected and then flipped the ATV down a three-and-a-half-foot embankment.  

The ATV came to rest on the golf course.  

Adults and children were tossed in the wreck and the collision is so fierce, the ATV's tire is ripped off.  

One of the first calls to Maury County 911 was made by a passenger in the wreck whose family members were injured. 

“Stoneybrook Golf Course we just flipped our ranger. My sister's foot is cut bad and my mom is laying on the ground she rolled down the hill. Nobody was buckled. My dad's head is cut open. 

A man who happened upon the scene described it to dispatch this way: “Oh God. I was behind them. Next thing I know it was up in the air. They started flipping. You need to get someone here. It is pretty bad, awful. One is on the ground, not moving, there are little kids, a little baby, a woman is holding, it was full of a family. It is not a good scene at all.”  

In all, three people were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The two most critically injured were flown by LifeFlight. 

Investigators said the driver was not drinking nor impaired.  

THP told News 2 the investigation is continuing and charges against the driver are possible. 

As of the last check at Vanderbilt, one of the victims was out of surgery in critical but stable condition and the second victim was still in surgery at the time.
