Arrestee Threatens Officers And Families

A Minnesota man arrested at a Lawrenceburg apartment complex Tuesday allegedly made several threats against the arresting officers and their families.

While on patrol, a Lawrenceburg Police Officer reports he was contacted regarding a person at Whispering Oaks Apartments who was possibly intoxicated. He reports he made his way to the Claymar Drive apartments and made contact with the suspect outside Building A.

The officer reports that the man was standing, but that he was unsteady on his feet and his speech was often incoherent. He reports finding a pint bottle of Vodka sitting nearby. The suspect was reportedly very loud, was using profanity, and talked about shooting people.

When he asked the man whether he lived inside the building, the officer reports that the suspect became irate and began to curse. He indicates he was verbally abusive toward himself and others.

The officer indicates the man made an attempt to run away and spoke of “shooting the officer in the face.” He was able to persuade the suspect to sit on the sidewalk. He was then handcuffed, placed under arrest and transported to the Lawrence County Jail.

Throughout the ride and while at the jail the officer reports that the man continued to curse and make threats to shoot officers in the face and “spill their blood.” In addition, the suspect made threats to find out where the officers lived and harm their families.

Officers indicate the man became physically violent, attempting to rush them. They report they were forced to physically restrain him in his chair in order to prevent him from hurting himself or other officers.

As a result of the incident the suspect, Eric Paul Taylor, II, 26, of 31 Eighteenth Street, Colquet, Minnesota, was booked on charges that include public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

Taylor is scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on August 7, 2008.
