A Sunday motorcycle crash tragically killed one Tennessee man, and authorities are looking for a 2nd vehicle that hit him.

 

Metro Police department reported a motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday night around 9:15 p.m. on Murfreesboro Pike.

Jacob Mathis, 22, of Fairview crashed his Suzki Motorcycle when Gilberto Diaz, 36, who was turning left onto Hobson Pike in his Ford Edge pulled in front of Mathis causing him to collided with the passenger side, and was thrown off of his motorcycle.

Diaz told officers that he had 3 beers earlier in the day, and police reported there was no evidence of Alcohol at the scene.

Police arrested Diaz for driving without a license, failure to provide proof of insurance, and pending the results of his Alcohol and drug test there could be additional charges.

Mathis was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers stated a witness said that Mathis was struck by a second vehicle believed to be a Ford Ranger pickup truck that did not stop, but fled the scene.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the driver of the Ford pickup truck is advised to contact the Emergency Communications Center at 615-862-8600.
