Lynnville Man Apprehended After Evading Authorities Friday

A resident of neighboring Giles County was arrested by local law enforcement officials Friday morning after he reportedly evaded initial efforts to apprehend him, leading officers on a foot chase.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report the incident occurred around 7:40 a.m. in the area of Maple Avenue. Officers received a call regarding an individual in the area of B&K Apartments who was not permitted to be on the premises.

On arrival officers report finding the man lying on the ground next to a car, behind D Building. He reportedly rose to his feet as officers approached, then looked at them. When they ordered him to stop, officers report the man instead turned and fled.

The man ran away from the officers, jumping a fence as he went. Two officers pursued on foot while a third made his way to the area in his police cruiser. During the foot chase, officers report they ordered the man repeatedly to halt, however he refused to do so.

The officer in his police car was able to intercept the fleeing suspect at the intersection of Maple Avenue and Torges Street.

The suspect, Marcus Lee Marable, age 22, of 4171 Ella West Circle, Lynnville, was placed under arrest on charges of evading arrest and violation of probation. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident.

Marable is scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Thursday, June 3, 2010.
