Lawrenceburg Approves Automatic Aid Agreement With New Prospect Fire Department

At the request of Lawrenceburg Fire Chief Jay Moore members of the city council have approved an automatic aid agreement with New Prospect Fire Department.

Moore explained the matter to members of the Lawrenceburg Board of Mayor and Council Thursday. He said that the agreement will allow members of both departments to automatically be paged out to structure fires within the departments’ immediate coverage area. He said that the agreement applies to structure fires only.

Moore told council members that the departments have already been assisting one another when necessary. During the past year he said New Prospect has been called to assist Lawrenceburg on ten different occasions. Lawrenceburg was called to assist New Prospect eight times.

When a structure fire is in progress and every minute counts, Moore said paging out both departments provides additional manpower and tanker trucks. Both resources play key roles in whether firefighters are able to save a structure.

Council members voted unanimously to approve the resolution.
