A former Lawrence County reporter pled guilty to sexual battery and extortion charges.

Former Lawrence County reporter, Alex Shoumake, was in court on Friday for rape charges.

Shoumake had been arrested by the Lawrenceburg Police Department in 2018 for kidnapping and rape charges.

At court Shoumake entered a guilty plea to Sexual Battery and Extortion charges where he was sentenced to 6 years on the battery charge and 4 years on the extortion charges.

The sentences run concurrent which will be a total of 10 years.

Shoumake was given credit for a year in jail, and will be on supervised probation for 10 years. He will be required to register as a sex offender, and provide a DNA sample.
