Vicious Dog Jumps Through Closed Window To Attack Neighbor’s Pet

A West Lawrence resident reported to authorities Monday that he was forced to shoot his neighbor’s pit bull dog when it jumped through a closed window to attack his own dog.

The victim summoned deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department to his 42 Laurel Hill Road home at around 6:30 p.m. He reported that his neighbor’s dog had jumped through a closed window, breaking the glass, then ran into his yard and attacked his dog.

The victim said that he and another man attempted to separate the dogs, but were unsuccessful as the pit bull had his dog by the neck. He said he retrieved his .22 caliber rifle and shot the pit bull. He said that the pit bull died and his own dog suffered some minor injuries.

The victim said that the previous day the same dog had been secured with a log chain, but was able to pull it from the ground and come into his yard. He told deputies that the dog was acting very aggressively at that time, as well.
