Thieves Escape Into The Night On Horseback

Thieves who targeted a West Point home overnight last Thursday, apparently escaped into the night on horseback.

The resident of Lodi Road, age 44, reported the incident to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies Friday morning. He stated that he had heard his dogs barking around 2:00 a.m. Afterwards, he said he heard the sound of “horses riding away.”

When the resident went to his garage around Thursday, he discovered that his Stihl Pro Model 360 chainsaw was missing along with 5, five-gallon gasoline cans. The victim told deputies that the name “Jack Beckett” is engraved on the bottom of the chainsaw and is on the gas cans, as well.

Deputies noted that the garage had been unlocked and that no damages were sustained during the crime.
