Debit Card Used After Mailed To Old Address

A former resident of Lawrenceburg reported to authorities during the weekend that someone had stolen a new debit card and PIN number mailed to his old address, then used it to deplete his bank account.

The victim told Lawrenceburg Police Officers Friday that he had moved from 1408 Mahr Avenue to his current address in Huntington, TN. In the meantime, he reports, his banking institution mailed a new debit card and Personal Identification Number (PIN) to the Mahr Avenue address. He said he had been unaware that the bank had even mailed the new items.

It was not until money went missing from his account, the victim said, that he realized something was amiss. When he contacted officials with Carroll bank & Trust in Huntington, he was informed that the new items had been mailed. He was told that the new card had been used twice on the same date at a Lawrenceburg convenience mart.

Withdrawals were made at both 8:37 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. via the ATM machine inside Quik Mart on North Locust Avenue. The two withdrawals totaled $400.00.

Investigation into the matter is on-going at the current time.
