Meth Charges Issued During Two Traffic Stops

Meth charges were issued against two individuals during separate traffic stops made by police officers last week.

During the first incident officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report stopping a 1998 Toyota Tacoma after noticing that a headlight was not functioning.

Officers report that while the driver was retrieving the requested paperwork they noticed a spoon bearing what appeared to be drug residue inside the glove box.

They inquired about whether there were any illegal weapons or substances inside the vehicle. They said the driver, Dustin Kyle Brazier, 25, of 246 Revilo Road admitted that he was in possession of an oxycodone pill and some needles.

During a subsequent search of the car and Brazier’s person officers report finding the pill, four spoons, several syringes, and a folded ten dollar bill with 1/3 gram of methamphetamine inside.

Brazier was arrested on two counts of possession of Schedule II narcotics and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued citations on several additional drug charges. He was transported to the Lawrence County Detention Center and jailed under a bond of $3,500.

Officers report stopping a second vehicle on North Locust Avenue after noticing that the driver was traveling in the dark without his headlights on. When they approached, officers noted a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day.

The driver granted consent for a search of the vehicle. When they asked the passenger to exit, they report finding a bag beneath his seat. The bag contained around ½ gram of meth.

The passenger, James Dylan Collier, 20, of 1475 Fall River Road claimed ownership of the contraband. He was arrested on a charge of possession of Schedule II narcotics and transported to the detention center.

Collier was held under a bond of $6,000.

Both Brazier and Collier were scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 5, 2014.
