Community Clubs Help With Great American Cleanup

Until the end of May, Lawrence County community clubs and their supporters can take part in a nationwide cleanup effort.

May 30th marks the close of the first Community Club Litter Pickup Contest of 2009. The cleanup effort coincides with the Great American Cleanup campaign, held across the nation each spring.

Twice each year, community clubs compete for cash prizes through litter collection contests funded through the Tennessee Department of Transportation Litter Grant Program. Winners of the contest will be announced in mid-June.

Community clubs and their supporters may take litter collections to the Solid Waste Transfer Station during regular business hours.

Lawrence County Government encourages all community clubs and their supporters to participate in the latest litter collection program and help with the Great American Cleanup.
