Loretto Residents Report Rash Of Mailbox Crimes
Several residents of an area in Loretto reported crimes involving their mailboxes during the weekend.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that some of the crimes were reported by residents of St. Mary Road.
One resident reported that his mailbox had been stolen off its pole while a second reported that someone had struck and damaged his mailbox.
On Rascaltown Road one resident reported that he had gone to retrieve his newspaper when he found his mailbox lying on the ground. He said that it had been struck, possibly with a baseball bat. A second Rascaltown Road resident reported that her mailbox had been vandalized, as well.
In each instance loss was estimated to be $50.
