Ethridge Woman Cited For Manufacturing Marijuana

A resident of the Ethridge area was issued citations during the weekend after authorities discovered she was growing marijuana plants at her residence.

Reports filed through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department indicate that drug agents had received information regarding the growing of the contraband at the residence. They made their way to the home to investigate shortly after 10:00 p.m. Friday.

Deputies report that resident Libby Jean Black gave written consent for a search of the premises. She then reportedly took deputies to the area where the plants were growing. Deputies report finding five marijuana plants growing inside three pots.

In addition, deputies seized a grinder and a pipe from the home, both of which allegedly bore marijuana residue.

Deputies noted that the home was in an unsanitary state, with garbage overflowing and food left lying about. They report Black, “Did admit she smoked a blunt when her three children were it the residence.”

As a result of the operation, Black was issued citations, charging her with the crimes of manufacture, sell or delivery of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Black is scheduled to answer the charges through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 2.
