Agents Seize Ecstasy From Motel Patrons

Local drug agents report seizing ecstasy and other drugs from patrons of a Lawrenceburg motel during the weekend.

Agents with both the Lawrenceburg Police Department and Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were involved in the operation, conducted in the early hours Sunday morning. Reports show the operation was undertaken when agents received confidential information regarding one of the patrons being in possession of the drug ecstasy.

When they approached the room in question at Regency Inn on North Locust Avenue, they indicate that Kevin Kilburn, 34, of 41 McGee Road, Lawrenceburg, was outside the room on his cell phone, “conducting a drug deal.” When they searched his person, agents report discovering that Kilburn had four ecstasy pills in his pocket.

Both females to whom the room was registered granted consent for a search. Agents report that only one of the five other individuals was found to be in possession of illegal narcotics. They report that three pills were found inside a pill bottle in the car belonging to April Dawn Ferguson, 33, of 1202 North Main Street, St. Joseph.

When questioned, Kilburn allegedly claimed possession of the ecstasy pills. He reportedly told them that he had transported the drugs to the motel inside his 1994 Chevrolet Camaro. As a result, the car was seized.

Kilburn was arrested on one count of possession of a controlled substance, Schedule I. Ferguson was charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance. Both are scheduled for an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 2, 2008.
