Assault Sparked By Attempt To Sell Meth On Victim’s Property

Law enforcement officers were called to investigate Thursday when a woman reported she had been assaulted by a man who wanted to sell methamphetamine on her property.

The victim, age 31, told deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department that a man she knew came onto her property, where no trespassing signs were posted, “wanting to sell meth.”

The victim said that while they were in the driveway she told the man she did not want him on the property. She said that this made the man angry and struck her in the face.

The victim said that after striking her the man fell down. She said he appeared to be under the influence of some type of intoxicant. She said when she told him she was going to call police, he left.

A witness who was inside the house at the time of the altercation told deputies that she had not seen the entire incident but that she did see the man strike the victim.

Reports show that the victim had sustained no visible injury. She was advised of the procedure to go through, should she wish to seek legal action.
