Brother Attacks Sister With Knife

A Lawrenceburg man was jailed Sunday evening after he allegedly attacked his sister with a knife after becoming angered at neighbors.

The call for assistance went out at 7:52 p.m. to a home situated on North Locust Avenue. Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department report when they arrived on the scene the suspect stated that he no longer had the knife and that he had calmed down. They indicated that he appeared to be intoxicated and “extremely agitated.”

The man told officers that he had become upset with neighbors who had “assaulted another neighbor” and that he had obtained the knife “to go stab his neighbor.”

When they spoke with the suspect’s twenty-five-year-old sister she reported that she had been attempting to calm her brother to prevent anyone from getting harmed, when he turned his rage upon her. She stated that he grabbed her by the hair and swung the knife in her direction.

A neighbor who spoke with officers reported that he had arrived after the assault had occurred, but that he was able to talk the suspect into handing the knife to over him.

As a result of the investigation the suspect, Joseph Lee Hill, 30, of 136 North Locust Avenue, was placed under arrest on one count of aggravated domestic assault. He was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident, where he was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

Hill is scheduled to answer the charge against him through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on Thursday, June 4, 2009.
