Flooding Bombards Tennessee

Rain and flooding have bombarded Middle Tennessee for the past couple of days, leaving many stranded, displaced, and several dead.

At least five deaths are attributed to flooding in Stewart, Carroll, Davidson and Williamson counties. In the Nashville area interstates and other roadways were underwater and at least three rescue workers had to be, themselves, rescued.

The local Swift Water Rescue Team was mobilized Saturday afternoon after severe storms passed through the area, dumping several inches of rain.

Flooding threatened homes in the Buffalo Road area at one point. Motorists became stranded in high waters in some area; some requiring rescue services.

Sunday crews with the Lawrence County Highway Department worked diligently to repair washed out roadways.

Officials advise residents to remain at home throughout the day if possible, as peak flooding is expected in the afternoon.
