Passerby Shoots Chicken

   Law enforcement officials were summoned to initiate an investigation Wednesday when a passerby reportedly stopped and fired upon a Lawrenceburg residents’ chickens.

   A neighbor notified the victim of the incident shortly after 9:30 p.m. He told Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies that the passerby had pulled his vehicle, possibly a Suzuki Samurai, alongside the chicken pen at 3201 Clanton Road, then began to fire into the pen with a pellet gun.

   The owner discovered that only one chicken had been struck by the pellet fire. A Lacey hen, valued at $200, was struck in the head and killed.

   The matter remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is urged to contact the department at 762-3626.
