County Commissioner Jackson Invited By The White House To Discuss Issues Facing Lawrence County

Lawrence County Commissioner Chris D. Jackson has been invited by the White House to participate in a county officials meeting in Washington D.C. this coming Tuesday, May 3rd.

According to the White House, the meeting will include discussions with county officials from around the nation on important issues such as economic development, poverty, how to deal with the growing problems related to jail overcrowding and crime, infrastructure, heath care and Medicaid.

Commenting about the meeting, Jackson says, "It is an extreme honor to have been invited by the White House to discuss the big issues that face Lawrence County and our citizens.

I plan to take the concerns of all Lawrence County citizens to Washington on vital issues such as jobs and economic development, spending, infrastructure, education and public safety. I will also be asking for federal assistance for meth lab clean up, whose funding was cut by the federal government a couple of months back.

Outside of being able to express our citizens views to the White House on these issues and get answers to the questions that they have, I am hopeful that I will be able establish points of contact at the White House and within the federal government that will benefit our county and to also gain an insight on how we can better work with them to improve our county."
