Investigation Leads To Recovery Of Stolen Four Wheelers

   An investigation initiated through the Lawrenceburg Police Department has lead to the recovery of several four wheelers reported stolen from Lawrence and surrounding counties, as well as the arrest of one individual allegedly responsible.

   According to department reports a tip lead officers to a speak with a thirty-three-year-old Peppertown Road resident they suspected was involved in the operation.

   During an interview, the resident reportedly admitted he had bought stolen four wheelers from Richard B. Cheek, 33, of 337 Iron City Road, and had sold a number of them. Two, he reported, were still in his possession.

   The resident agreed to cooperate with authorities in the recovery of the stolen ATVs. He was able to turn over to them five at that time, with a combined value of around $15,000. The four wheelers were then transported to the department’s impound lot.

   Reports indicate two of the four wheelers were reported stole by residents of Lawrence County, two from Wayne County, and one from a Lauderdale County, Alabama, resident.

   As a result of the operation Cheek as placed under arrest on two counts of burglary and three counts of theft. Cheek is scheduled for an initial appearance through Lawrence County General Sessions Court on June 5, 2009.
