Man Who Jumped From Moving Vehicle Apprehended

   A Lawrenceburg man who jumped from a moving vehicle Saturday, leading policemen on a foot chase, was later apprehended and booked through the local jail.

   Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that an officer was on routine patrol along Windsor Drive in the area of B&K Apartments, around 12:30 p.m. when the incident occurred.

   The officer reports noticing as he approached, the driver of a truck “sped up and squealed tires.” When the driver was turning to park, he indicates a male passenger jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot.

    The officer reports that he walked around the building and found that the man was hiding there. When he saw the officer he fled away from the building and into the tree line behind the complex.

The officer pursued the man as he ran toward High Avenue. He reports that when the man got to the bottom of the hill he turned and ran back toward Bluff Drive. Although he issued repeated commands for the man to halt, the officer reports he refused to do so.

   A second officer joined the chase and was able to apprehend the man. Reports show that he first gave officers a false name. When they found that there were outstanding warrants in that name in the State of Wisconsin, however, they report the man offered his real name.

   Clyde Christopher Calhoun, 28, of 315 Hoover Street, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. He was additionally charged with evading arrest.

   Calhoun was scheduled an initial appearance in Lawrence County General Sessions Court on May 5, 2011.
