New Prospect Kindergarten Students Celebrate Earth Day

Students in Kindergarten classes at New Prospect Elementary School learned about the importance of recycling and litter prevention during a program coinciding with Earth Day activities this week.

Lawrence County Executive Paul Rosson visited with the Kindergarten classes Tuesday to encourage the students to help with their family’s recycling and litter pickup efforts.  The students have been learning about the environment as part of the national Earth Day observance.

Earth Day is Wednesday, April 22, a day set aside each year to inspire awareness of the environment.  Tuesday’s program focused on encouraging students not to litter and to help their families to place recyclable items in a separate container from regular household garbage.  Rosson explained that these simple steps can have a great impact on the environment.

“Our county government has been very aggressive in its efforts to enhance the recycling program,” Rosson said. “The students at New Prospect were eager to learn about how to help their families recycle and make a positive impact on our environment.”
