Emergency Workers Find Caller Smoking Marijuana

Police officers were notified by emergency medical personnel Saturday night that they had answered a call to a Lawrenceburg home, only to find a man smoking marijuana.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were summoned to the Oak Street home by members of the Lawrence County Ambulance Service. They told officers that when they arrived, the man was sitting in a chair, smoking marijuana, and that he had discarded it inside a soda can.

When he arrived at the scene, the reporting officer found the man lying on a stretcher outside the apartment. He notes that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.

The man became verbally abusive after being placed inside the ambulance. Reports show that an officer spoke with him briefly and that he was then cooperative throughout transport.

Officers retrieved the marijuana and it was seized into evidence. Charges are pending in the case.
