Lawrence County Sheriff's department conducted a traffic stop that led to felony methamphetamine charges.

On Wednesday April 10th, the Lawrence County Sheriff's department was conducting a traffic stop on Waynesboro Highway.

Deputies pulled over Anna Maria Smith of Wayne County, and during the traffic stop they discovered 35 grams of methamphetamine along with drug paraphernalia.

The large quantity of methamphetamine is considered a felony amount of drugs.

Smith was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent for resale and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was transported to the Lawrence County jail.

After the arrest Sheriff John Myers stated, "We are diligently working to make sure it's known by drug dealers to stay out of Lawrence County. Everyday our team gains a little more ground on fighting illegal substances in our community. I'm beyond proud of the effort that's been done so far."
