Female Residents Report Assaults By Husband, Boyfriend, Ex

Area law enforcement officers were called upon in past days to initiate investigations into several instances of domestic assault.

On Friday Lawrenceburg Police Officers investigated such an instance during which the victim said her ex-husband attempted to cause her harm while driving.

The victim, age 27, reported she had been driving along U.S. Highway 43 in the area of Flattwoods Road when her ex-husband swerved his 1996 Jeep Cherokee toward her vehicle.

She told officers he accelerated so that he could pass her in the turning lane, then positioned his truck in front of her and slammed on the brakes. During the assault, she said his new wife was “hanging out the window cussing at her.”

Shortly after 1:00 a.m. Saturday Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies were summoned to a Freeman Hill Road home where the female resident reported she had been assaulted by her husband.

The victim, age 39, reported they had been arguing when her husband struck her in the mouth and arm, then picked up an object and hit her on the left arm.

Deputies note that the victim had sustained visible injuries. Although the suspect had already left on foot, warrants were signed charging him with aggravated domestic assault.

Around 4:30 Saturday afternoon deputies were dispatched to Ramah Church on Rabbit Trail Road. There, the victim reported she and her boyfriend had been engaged in an argument while he was taking her to the church to meet a friend.

She told deputies that in his anger he drove off while she was only partially out of the truck, causing an injury to her back. Warrants were signed against the man, who was arrested in the early hours Sunday.
