Crime Report

   Local law enforcement officers have called upon to investigate various local crimes in past days. The following area some of those crimes.

Theft of political signs

A resident of 107 First Avenue, Ethridge, reported to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies last week that his campaign sign had been stolen from a neighbor’s yard. Loss was placed at $25.

Theft

A student, age 16, reported he fell asleep while riding a school bus last week. When his bus driver awakened him at his destination, he discovered his IPod was missing. A search by the student and bus driver failed to turn up the item. Total loss is $250.

Home vandalized

A resident of 144 Fisher Hollow Road, Loretto reported he returned to his home to find the inside had been severely vandalized. Deputies report numerous items were scattered about inside the home and lotion had been poured over much of the contents. In addition, two bottles of prescription medication were reportedly stolen. Damages were estimated to total $3,315.

Church vandalized

Pastor Chad Moore called sheriff’s deputies to O.K. Baptist Church when he discovered someone had attempted to break in. Pry marks were discovered the side and back doors. Damages totaled $1,000.

Business burglarized

Owners reported a change machine and contents were stolen from Wishy Washy, 103 Hicks Street, resulting in losses of approximately $1,075.

Gasoline stolen

Employees of Self’s Market at 5540 Waynesboro Highway reported a driver pumped some $103 worth of gasoline Sunday, then drove away without paying for it. The vehicle was a maroon over silver Dodge truck pulling a fifth wheel horse trailer. Three people were said to occupy the truck.
