Two Tennessee police officers have been wounded, and one man is dead.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that two Tennessee police officers with the Greeneville Police department attempted to stop a speeding vehicle, but the driver took off on foot to a nearby apartment complex.

The female passenger told officers where her and the man lived in the apartment complex.

Once officers entered the residence they found a second man that didn't live there who became combative by pulling a gun on the officers, and firing shots.

Authorities say that both of the officers were struck, and returned fire, killing the man. The officers were treated at a hospital, but are expected to recover.
