Resident Discovers Debit Card Taken From Stolen Car

A Loretto resident whose car was stolen, then recovered, discovered last week that the thief had also made off with her debit card.

The victim contacted the Lawrenceburg Police Department, indicating that she needed to file a police report in order to recoup losses in her bank account.

She told officers that her 2005 Nissan Altima had been stolen on March 26 from her Fisher Hollow Road home. She was able to locate the car in Tuscumbia, Alabama, and had it towed back to her home on March 30.

On April 1, the victim said, she needed to obtain some cash from her bank account. When she reached for her debit card (which had been kept inside her car), however, she discovered it was missing.

The victim advised officers that she contacted officials with Regions Bank to determine whether the card had been fraudulently used. They informed her that her account was overdrawn by $134.00.

The account was canceled to prevent any further theft. Bank officials also advised the victim to file a police report so that she could be reimbursed for the fraudulent charges.
