Homes Burglarized While Residents Out Of Town

Two different residents reported to local law enforcement officers late last week that their homes had been burglarized while they were out of town.

One such burglary was reported by a resident of Leoma’s Sanders Lane. A friend of the resident summoned Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies to the home after discovering that the front door was standing open.

She reported she had stopped by to check on the home while the resident was vacationing out of state.

The complainant told deputies that she had looked inside. She said she was certain that the culprit had taken a washer and dryer along with a Playstation 3 gaming system.

The victim spoke with deputies by phone. He indicated that upon his return he would inventory the home’s contents.

Deputies report that the persons responsible had attempted to pry open the rear door. Unsuccessful, the culprit was then able to pry open the front door. Both sustained considerable damage. Deputies also discovered a window had been broken and that there were holes in a kitchen wall.

While searching the home, deputies report finding two “pacifier pipes,” on a bedroom table. When they spoke with the victim by telephone he indicated that they did not belong to him. He felt that the individuals responsible for the burglary had left them behind.

Deputies spoke with neighbors to ascertain whether they had information pertinent to the investigation.

One neighbor reported seeing a black Ford Taurus with a cracked windshield. She said the car had been parked in the victim’s driveway on March 25. Since that time, she said the victim’s front door had remained open.

Preliminary estimates of loss and damages total $925.

Similarly, a resident of 213 Lawrence Street, Lawrenceburg reported her home had been burglarized while she was out of town.

Reports show that officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department responded to the 8:00 a.m. call on Friday. They found that a window in the living room had been opened.

Taken were an Xbox 360 game system and one game. Their value is approximately $265.

The cases are now under investigation by detectives with the respective agency’s Criminal Investigation Division.
