Possible Instance Of Fraud Eyed By Authorities

Local law enforcement officials are looking into yet another possible instance of fraud reported by a Lawrence County resident.

A resident of western Lawrence reported the matter first through the District Attorney’s Office, then to Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies.

The victim told deputies that he had received a telephone call from a man last Friday who claimed to be “taking over his insurance plan.” The man indicated that the victim’s insurance carrier, AIM Health Plans, had been charged with fraud, and that he would be taking over his plan. When the victim asked the man for his Tennessee license number, however, he reports that the man hung up.

The victim told deputies that he had discovered that fraud allegations had, indeed, been made against his insurance carrier, but indicated he had received no type of notification regarding any changes.

When he consulted with officials at the District Attorney’s Office about the matter, they advised the victim to file a fraud complaint through the sheriff’s department. He said that the D.A.’s office had contacted the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance about the matter, as well.
