Fire Destroys West Lawrence Shop
Fire claimed a shop in the western portion of the county during the weekend, resulting in thousands of dollars worth of losses.
The fire call went out at 7:11 p.m. Sunday to 140 Bryant Road. When they arrived on the scene, deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department report that a shop behind the residence had already burned completely to the ground. Deputies noted that the building did have power run to it from the house.
In addition to the building itself, reports show that a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe and a boat in close proximity were also burned. At the time of the fire the property, owned by James Shaffer, Jr., was rented by resident Gregory Doss. Total loss is estimated at $15,200.
