Bank Officials Intervene In Attempt To Cash Stolen Check

Officials with Green Bank were able to foil an attempt to cash checks stolen from a Lawrenceburg business Monday.

Bank officials summoned Lawrenceburg Police Officers to the 101 North Locust Avenue business shortly before 3:00 p.m., indicating that a woman had made two separate attempts to cash checks written on the account of Fingerprint Systems Services, Inc., located at 8 Public Square, Lawrenceburg.

Bank personnel reported that the woman had first come in, attempting to cash a check on the account that was dated in August. When she was told the check was outdated and that they would be unable to cash it, employees said the woman left, returning with a second check. When they informed her they would have to call the owner of the business and verify the check, they report the woman exited the building and got into a four-door, white Chevrolet Impala driven by a second female.

Bank officials reported that the woman had offered as identification, an ID card issued through the State of Michigan. It identified her as “Angel S. Keely.” Both checks had been written for the amount of $200.00.

Officers went to the business and spoke with owners. They indicated that a woman who owned a white Chevrolet Impala had done some work for the business, and that she had stopped by to pick up a computer tower, which had been situated in the room where they kept their checkbook. A brief search revealed that the checkbook was, in fact, missing.

Officers note that owners reviewed video surveillance of the bank transactions. They were unable to identify the suspect.
