Sunday Afternoon Traffic Accident

On March 17th, 2013 at approximately 5:30pm a fatal crash occurred on Hwy 64 at Ezell Drive in the city of Lawrenceburg, TN.

The crash reconstructionist with the Lawrenceburg Police Department and members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol CIRT team responded to the scene of the crash to begin the investigation.

Based on information at this time, it was determined a motorcycle, drive by Clyde Ray Newton, 66 of Lawrenceburg and passenger, Willodean Carmie Newton, age 62 of Lawrenceburg, were traveling east on Hwy 64 and came to a stop behind stopped vehicles at the intersection of Ezell Drive.
An SUV, driven by Misti Lane Risner, age 35, of Lawrenceburg, was also traveling east on Hwy 64 behind the motorcycle and failed to stop.

The SUV struck the rear of the motorcycle and continued into the west bound lane of travel and struck car head-on, driven by Sara Elizabeth Wiser, age 18 of Taft, TN., and passenger, Adam Joe Wiser, age 21 of Taft, TN.

The driver and passenger of the motorcycle did succumb to the injuries sustained in the crash.  The driver and passenger of the car were transported by EMS to Crockett Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was lifeflighted to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.  Investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
