Second Resident Receives Death Threat/Extortion Email

A second resident has come forward to report he received an email that claimed the sender had been hired to kill him, then attempted to extort money from him, and authorities warn that this appears to be a new ploy utilized by scam artists.

The wording in both emails is extremely similar – in some instances identical.

In both instances the sender tells the recipient that someone “wanted him dead by all means and the person have spent a lot of money on this…” He indicates that “the person provided them with a picture and other necessary information’s we needed about you. So I sent my boys to track you down and they have done that but I have told them not to kill you that I will like to contact you and see if your life is important to you or not since their findings shows that you are innocent.”

Both recipients were warned, “As I am writing to you now my men are monitoring you and they are telling me everything about you.

It is at this point that the sender attempts to extort money from the recipients. In the first instance he demands $15,000, while he demanded $10,000 from the second victim.

The writer then issues a threat against the victims’ lives, saying, “If you are not ready for my help, then I will carry on with my job straight-up.” The writer also warns both victims against contacting police or telling anyone, saying, “I will know.” He then begins to make threats against the victim’s family members, saying, “I will extend it to your family.”

As the email continues, the writer issues a further warning to both victims, “Do not come out once it is 7 p.m. until I make time to see you.”

The first victim reported that the “from” line of the email bore the words “All Eyes On You,” while the subject line stated, “Death Awaits You.” The second threat was sent from the email address alexhaughey@gmail.com.

Both matters remain under continued investigation through the Criminal Investigation Divisions of both the police and sheriff’s departments. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact either department.
