Residents Report Intruder

Residents of a Leoma home summoned help from law enforcement officers when they heard an intruder inside their home in the early hours Saturday morning.

Lawrence County Sheriff’s Deputies answered the 2:37 a.m. burglary in progress call to a home on U.S. Highway 43 South. There, two females, ages 38 and 18, reported they had heard someone moving about inside the house.

When they arrived, deputies report that a door was open and lights were on in the living room area.

Once they had cleared the house deputies spoke with the two females, who had remained in a rear bedroom. They reported they had gone to bed earlier, leaving a door unlocked and lights on.

Deputies report no signs of forced entry were found and that nothing appeared to be missing.
