Prisoner Garners Escape Charge

A prisoner who walked away while at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Monday has now garnered an escape charge.

According to reports filed through the department, the inmate, James Edward Lincoln, 35, of 22 Samuel Drive, Loretto, had been transported back to the facility from a program in which he had previously been placed.

Officials at Buffalo Valley Rehabilitation were in the process of transferring Lincoln back into the custody of the Lawrence County Detention Center because he had violated that facility’s rules.

While the transfer of custody was being handled, reports show that Lincoln “did leave the sheriff’s department” without authorization. He was quickly returned to the facility and jailed once more.

Lincoln is currently jailed without bond.
