Victims Report Their Vehicle Was Fired Upon

A complaint filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department late last week indicates that a squabble in the Hoover Street area resulted in shots being fired at a vehicle while three occupants were inside.

Officers were dispatched to initiate an investigation Saturday afternoon. The three victims, two of whom are ages 37 and 41, reported that they had driven a friend’s 1998 Dodge Durango, stopping near 315 Hoover Street at around 10:30 p.m. Friday. The reporting officer indicates that the victims were speaking with two individuals who reside at the address, when an altercation “started for reasons that are not clear.”

Reports show that three of the individuals became involved in a physical altercation during which one man was struck in the face with what was believed to be a pool stick. The victims and witnesses reported that a woman exited the Hoover Street home, bringing a firearm to one of the men involved. They indicate that the firearm, believed to be a shotgun, was discharged several times.

The victims told officers that they had believed at the time that all of the rounds had struck the ground, but that they left the scene. It was not until the following day, they said, that they realized the vehicle had sustained damage from the shotgun blasts.

Officers report that all three of the victims were inside the vehicle when it was struck by gunfire. One round, they report, struck the bottom of the door where one of the victims was seated.

Investigation in the matter is continuing at the present time. Detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigation Division have been tasked with delving into the matter further.
