DEPUTIES REMOVE OVER 200 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA FROM LAWRENCEBURG HOME LAWRENCEBURG

– Lawrence County Deputies seized over 200 grams of marijuana from a Lawrenceburg home last week. Deputies were investigating a theft case at an apartment complex on Bluff Drive on Thursday, February 14, 2019 when officers noticed a strong smell of the illegal drug imitating from within the residence.

After knocking on the apartment’s door, a young child met deputies who then asked to speak to an adult.

Officers noted several children present in the home while speaking to the suspects regarding the theft case.

While in the residence, officers noted a glass pipe present in plain view in the living room.

After questioning about the drugs, the resident took officers to the bedroom where more drug paraphernalia items were located. During the course of the investigation, officers located a vacuumed sealed bag containing 200.6 grams of marijuana.

The drugs and paraphernalia items were taken into possession of the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department.

“The seizure of this large amount of marijuana is the latest step we’ve taken in our war on drugs in Lawrence County.

Taking this off our streets could mean saving someone’s life who would encounter an impaired driver due to drug use or complicate someone’s recovery from addiction. I’m proud of my team and the steps my department has taken in recent months to combat these issues,” stated Lawrence County Sheriff John Myers.

Officers made referrals to the Department of Children Services regarding the children in the home with illegal drugs present and to the Lawrence County Grand Jury for prosecution of the suspects in the matter.
