Youngster Treated For Dog Bite

A child received medical treatment during the weekend after having been bitten on the face by a friend’s dog.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the emergency room at Crockett Hospital around 7:00 p.m. Monday.

He reports that the victim, age 12, had sustained a wound to the face that required numerous sutures to close. In addition, he noted several cuts and abrasions on the child’s hands.

The victim’s mother told the deputy that they had been visiting friends at a home on Fall River Road when the incident occurred.

She said that when they were leaving her son went to the garage where the dog was chained, and that he returned shortly afterwards with blood on his face.

She explained that the dog was familiar with the boy and said she was uncertain what had prompted the attack.

The deputy noted that the dog was up to date on vaccinations.
