Burglars target home while residents run errands

Law enforcement officials are investigating a burglary that occurred last week when residents left their home just long enough to run errands.

The residents reported to Lawrenceburg Police officers that they had taken their two dogs with them when they left their Fair Avenue home at around 1:30 p.m.

They said they returned a short time later to find that a window had been opened. They said they approached the front door and it swung open at their touch.

They told officers that the window had not been secured because they had run an extension cord through it to power some string lights.

A number of the residents’ belongings were missing, including a camera, radios, HP laptop, around 50 DVDs, jump box, digital photos, tool set, and around $200 worth of loose change. Loss was estimated to total $1,830.

The case remains under investigation through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has information about the crime should contact the department at 931-762-2276.
