Break-in investigated at First Avenue home

Lawrenceburg Police officers were dispatched to a First Avenue home on Wednesday after a resident returned to find that his home had been burglarized.

The victim, age 59, reported that someone had broken into his home sometime between 7:00 a.m. and 5:20 p.m.

The front door had been kicked open. When he looked around inside, the victim said the only things that appeared to be missing were his Mossberg .270, bolt-action rifle with a Brownell 4x12x40 scope, and his Savage .22 semi-automatic long rifle.

The rifles had been stored in cases, that were also missing. Altogether, the victim estimated his loss to total $1,200.

Officers were able to speak with a neighbor who reported no suspicious activity around the home during the given time period. The matter remains under investigation.
