Suspect Identified In January Hit And Run Involving Bicyclist

Detectives are seeking indictments against an individual they believe was involved in a January hit and run accident that resulted in injuries to a bicyclist.

Lawrenceburg Police Chief Judy Moore issued a press release Wednesday indicating that indictments are being sought against forty-five year old Lawrenceburg resident Tammy Nadine Beeles.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Geri Street/Business Avenue on December 18, 2012 after seventy-three year old Grady Leonard Novem was struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle. He told officers that a woman driving a van had crossed from Business Avenue, striking him and running over both of his legs.

He said the driver exited her vehicle for a moment, then got back inside and fled from the scene. He was able to provide officers with a vehicle description, description of the driver, and a partial license plate number.

Detectives identified Beeles as the driver. They speculate that she fled the scene because she had been driving despite the fact that her driver’s license had been revoked.

Detectives have presented evidence to the Lawrence County Grand Jury and are awaiting their decision in order to proceed with the case.
