Vacuum Cleaner Stolen From Second Church

For the second time in a week burglars targeted a local church, making off with a vacuum cleaner.

Officials with Pea Ridge Church of Christ, 178 Waterloo Road, reported the most recent crime to deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department on Saturday.

A church representative reported he had last been at the church the previous Sunday. He said that when he arrived to clean the church on Saturday, he found an extension cord lying in the middle of the downstairs hallway.

The church official began to check the building. He told deputies he found pry marks at one exterior door. He then discovered a window had been broken from the children’s activity room. Deputies believed this to be the point of entry.

Reports indicate that the only items missing appeared to be a vacuum cleaner and leaf blower. Damages and loss were estimated to total $335.

On January 31, deputies investigated a similar break-in at Beech Grove Baptist Church. A window had been broken from this church, as well. The sole item missing was a vacuum cleaner.

Investigation into both crimes is currently continuing through the department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone who has pertinent information is urged to contact the department at 931-762-3626.
