Abandoned Dog Chained To Mailbox
A Robertson Road resident reported to law enforcement officers Sunday that someone had abandoned a dog at her residence by chaining it to her mailbox post.
Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department answered the 8:40 a.m. call. The resident reported she had noticed a black Labrador Retriever/Rottweiler mix dog near her mailbox that morning, and had walked out to check on it.
She found that someone had chained the dog to her mailbox post, securing the other end other end of the chain with a weight.
The victim told deputies she feared the dog would be struck by a car. She said she attempted to free the dog, but that it began growling at her, so she called for assistance.
Deputies were able to free the dog. At the time reports were filed no suspects had been identified.
