County Will Fund Cell Phones For IT Personnel
County leaders voted last week to amend the existing policy regarding government funding of cell phones to exclude members of the Information Technology Department.
The commission established a policy in December of 2003 prohibiting county government from funding cell phone service for various departments.
A resolution was brought before the commission last week, seeking to amend that policy. It stated, “Cell phone availability and use is critical to the IT department employees and such employees are currently compelled to use their personal cell phones in order to effectively perform their duties.”
Board members voted to approve the amendment, allowing funding of cell phones exclusively for full-time IT employees.
