Authorities Investigate Counterfeit Bill
An investigation was undertaken Thursday after authorities learned that a counterfeit bill had been included in a deposit made by owners of a local market.
A deputy with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department was called to Community Bank of Lawrence County shortly after 11:00 a.m. Bank officials gave him a counterfeit $20 bill that they said had been included in a deposit from Three Oaks Market in Ethridge.
The deputy took the bill to the market where he spoke with the owner and obtained all information needed for the report.
Investigation regarding the incident is currently on-going.
