Residents Follow Would-Be Thieves As They Flee

A west Lawrence couple stopped by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Saturday night to report they had followed a truck full of would-be thieves into town from their property.

The couple reported they had noticed a dark grey, extended cab, Toyota 4x4 parked across the roadway from their residence, adjacent to their shed. They said that they watched as one of the vehicle occupants exited their shed and threw something into the bed of the truck.

The couple reported they got into their own truck and pulled beside the suspect vehicle. They noted that there were four young men inside. They told deputies the men backed out, turned around, then sped away.

The couple gave chase, following the vehicle all the way from the Piney area into Lawrenceburg. They indicated that they attempted to get the driver to stop, but that he would not do so. They said they opted to stop at the sheriff’s department to file a police report. The couple was able to provide officers with a license plate number.

Investigation into the incident is on-going at the present time.
