Officers Witness Assault

Police officers summoned to investigate an assault incident early Sunday were surprised when the victim suddenly lunged around them to attack another man.

Reports filed through the Lawrenceburg Police Department show that the complainant reported around 12:47 a.m. that he had been assaulted while at the Traveler’s Motel on North Locust Avenue. When he met with officers, they report that he moved around two officers, then assaulted a man standing nearby. They indicate he struck the man in the right side of the head before being halted.

As a result the complainant, Levi Sanchez, 34, of 319 Devin Drive, was placed under arrest on charges that include public intoxication, assault, and filing a false police report. The latter charge was added because officers indicate Sanchez initially gave false information, stating that he had no driver license or social security number when, in fact, he did.

Sanchez was transported to the Lawrence County Jail without further incident.
