Father Charged With Injuring Baby During Domestic Ruckus

An Ethridge man was arrested on charges that he injured his infant daughter during a domestic ruckus at their home Friday night.

Reports show that Christopher Allen Woods, 25, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and domestic vandalism in the wake of the 11:11 p.m. altercation inside his 208 West High Street home.

Deputies with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the home in regards to a domestic altercation. Woods’ girlfriend told deputies that he had busted her telephone and turned over a table during the altercation. She stated that he kicked a toy on the floor causing it to strike the face/eyebrow area of their four-month-old daughter. Reports show that the infant did sustain a cut/abrasion to that area.

Afterwards, the woman reported that Woods became engaged in an argument with her mother during which he spit in her face. The grandmother indicated that she retaliated in kind. Woods then reportedly left the home, headed to an area bar.

Woods was picked up by deputies a brief time later and transported to the Lawrence County Jail. He admitted to deputies that he had kicked the toy, but stated that he had not intended to hurt the baby.

Woods is slated to answer the charges against him through Lawrence County General Sessions Court.
