Burglar Steals Meds From Church Parking Lot

A Mount Pleasant man attending church in Summertown Sunday morning returned to his vehicle to find someone had stolen his medication.

The victim, age 63, reported the incident through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. He told deputies he had arrived for services around 10:00 a.m. After parking his 1997 Mercury Mountaineer in the lot, he said he went inside the building.

Around 10:45, the victim reports a church member told him someone had been inside his truck when she arrived. She indicated a white female, around 5’4” and of average build was inside the truck. She told authorities the woman was dressed in a sweater and wet blue jeans.

When the church member approached the woman, she reports the woman stated she lived nearby and was going home to change clothes, then return for services. When she left, the church member told deputies, the woman did not head in the direction she claimed to live. She indicated she headed west on Highway 20.

When the owner returned to his truck he discovered that his medication was missing. A total of ten, 10 mg Lortab pills had been stolen. The pills were valued at $20.

Investigation into the matter is on-going at the current time.
